Tyler Wiederhoeft: How's life been since the end of last season?Jawun Evans: "I've been good. I'm just grinding, working out and working on things. It's been a nonstop grind for me."TW: Describe what it was like to get invited to the Combine and go through all the pre-draft workouts.JE: "Getting invited to the Combine was a great experience, you know, being out there with the other top prospects coming into the NBA. It was a good feeling, talking to the teams and seeing how they felt about me and seeing new things. It was a great experience and I was excited to go."TW: The Clippers traded into the draft to get you. What was that feeling like to hear your name called? How did it feel when you found out they traded in to get you? JE: "To hear my name being called, it was a dream come true. It was something I had always dreamed about. What changed your mind?JE: "I mean, I really just wasn't sure to be honest with you. I talked a little with my family, especially my mom and that's what we decided to do. I decided to take that next step."TW: Did the coaching change have anything to do with your decision?JE: "No. Not at all. Either way, I was going to look at [going to the NBA Draft] very close. That didn't have anything to do with it."TW: You knew Mike Boynton as an assistant coach for a year. Do you think he will be successful in his first year as head coach of the program?JE: "Yeah, I think so. That group of guys are going to play hard for him just because of the kind of coach he is. I feel like they are going to have a really good season and shock a lot of people…There's a lot of people who doubt OSU for some reason, but I feel like they are going to be pretty good."TW: What was your favorite memory at Oklahoma State? JE: "I have a lot of great memories. Us going to Maui and us boys being together on the beach and just being out there having fun and bonding. Also, when we did the Navy Seals. Being in the pool, then being outside working on things and becoming closer as a team."TW: What was your favorite game as a Cowboy? JE: "I'd have to say all the games we played in Maui."In the Maui Invitational, Evans averaged 26.0 points per game, 2.0 rebounds per game, 4.3 assists per game and 2.7 steals per game for the three games in paradise.TW: The Clippers are 3-0 in Summer League headed into the bracket play, earning the No. 5-seed in the tournament. Have you felt like you have made the statement you wanted to make in Summer League?JE: "I wouldn't say that. I don't think so. I'm still learning, but that statement is coming. I'm still being introduced to the plays and stuff like that, but I also know that statement game is coming."TW: Moving from Dallas to Stillwater, you went from a big town to a small town. Now, you are moving to Los Angeles. What will that transition be like for you?JE: "I think it's going to be a big transition. Moving from a small city to a big city, it's going to be a lot different. I'm going to take it on and do the best that I can do. I'll get help from my teammates and coaches, but I think it will be a great experience to have."TW: Blake Griffin just resigned with the Clippers. Are you going to enjoy playing with him, even though he was a Sooner? JE: "I think that's over with. I actually talked with Blake about that the other day, about me being from Oklahoma State and him being from OU. It's going to be great playing with him and learning from him every day, so I feel like that will be a great thing for me."TW: This year's football team could be one of the best that Oklahoma State has ever seen.
