'CK3100 in Renault Espace 2004 with Cabasse Auditorium'
I couldn't find much on the net regarding fitting a Parrot CK3100 to a Renault Espace. Anyway, after a bit of investigation, and a few hours of work, all is working fine.
The CD autochanger is piggybacked onto the Cabasse Radio in a rear left hand panel.
Two torx screws removes the CD unit to reveal ISO connectors on the radio beneath.
The CK3100 can now be plugged onto these ISO connectors without any additional adapters or leads. The Red +ve and the Orange switched +ve wires do need to be swapped at the fuses.
The CD changer can now be reinstated.
There is one problem however. The Display and Microphone leads are now around 5 meters too short, and need to be extended to reach the front of the vehicle.
For this, I used a 5m VGA monitor extension cable (with ends cut off) following the wiring from the radio to the fuse area at the front (The VGA cable contains 3 seperately sheilded cores, 5 standard cores, and an overall screen). I removed trim along the passenger side (Right Hand Drive in UK) door step to reveal the loom, and installed the VGA cable. The microphone was installed in the ceiling. The remote, just to the right of the steering wheel. All connections were made just below the fuses in the dash.
I used a sheilded core for the microphone, leaving the rest of the VGA for the 7 cores required for the remote display.
If done properly, there is just enough cores to extend the AUX Audio In, as shown at
http://www.planeterenault.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4019 allowing you to run SatNav audio or an iPod via Aux.
Hope this helps anyone contemplating installing a 3100 to their espace (maybe other Renault models as well).
Regards
Keith
